In January 2025, Steel Line Ltd was awarded the fabrication works by Neon Studios for their Pivotal Sculpture which is situated at One Station Hill in Reading.
The structure was held up by a 14M high galvanised and powder coated mild steel solid central column comprising 73 brightly orange-coloured fins, each with 80 bright yellow kinetic elements that respond to the wind.
Finally, it was then fitted with LED lighting thanks to the help of Tryka UK Ltd all held with steel channelling.
Pivotal is a monumental, flag-inspired kinetic artwork celebrating a bright new era for the town of Reading. The sculpture is in constant transformation—never appearing the same twice. By day, its scale and vivid palette act as a beacon for residents and the 20 million annual station passengers, while by night, animated lighting within each fin dramatically redefines its presence. Positioned at the gateway to Station Hill, Pivotal embodies adaptability and collective identity, reflecting the spirit of a community shaping its future.
